As infighting continues to intensify between ISWAP and Boko Haram, Nigerian troops are increasingly becoming the only refuge for some of the top commanders of the two groups.

Last week, an ISWAP member sought protection from troops against a BH threat.

Yesterday, a BH commander ran to troops in Bama, to seek similar protection against ISWAP.

He was already soaked in blood when he ran to them, with both his ears cut off and several other injuries.

The victim revealed to our sources that ISWAP attacked him at Mantari Village of Bama Local Government Area.

'They cut his body with cutlass and he pretended to have died. After they left, he then ran here. Right now, he is in Bama receiving treatment atthe hospital.'

The rivalry between the two factions has intensified since the killing of Abubakar Shekau in May 2021.

The infighting, which is further spurred by massive military operations, has continued to cause the surrender of the fighters from both groups.

So far, about 60, 000 from both factions have surrendered to the Nigerian troops.

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
