JUST-IN: Magashi, service chiefs storm Maiduguri as terrorists continue to suffer defeats

Bashir Salihi Magashi, a retired major general and minister of defence has arrived Maiduguri early hours of Friday, in the company of all service chiefs.

They are in Maiduguri to assess ongoing military operations in the North East Theatre Command. Maj. General CG Musa, the theatre commander was joined by Maj. Gen. Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim Force Commander MJTF, Brig. General Onyeama Nwachukwu, spokesperson of the Nigeria Army to receive the visitors at the Nigerian Air Force.

Gen. Lucky Irabor, the chief of defense staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahya, chief of army staff, Rear Admiral Isiaka Amao, chief of naval staff and Air Marshal Awwal Gambo, the chief of air staff.

The service chiefs were at the theatre several times in the past for similar visits.

The military has recently recorded several successes against the terrorists operating in the theatre.

The operations are causing many of them to lay down arms and turn themselves over to the military, which as of yesterday, has reached 15, 000 persons.

The army similarly killed Musab Al-Barnawi, leader of one of the factions of the terrorist group. His successor, Malam Bako, was equally eliminated shortly after he was appointed.
