Four members of Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, were neutralized by troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, deployed in Wulgo, a town in Ngala Local Government of Borno.

The terrorists met their waterloo on Monday, according to a statement by Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the spokesman of the Nigerian Army.

'The vigilant troops successfully foiled an attempted infiltration of the terrorists group into the camp, while on a patrol to dominate their area of responsibility. The troops swiftly responded with overwhelming volume of fire and spontaneous reinforcement from the Battalion Headquarters, compelling the terrorists to retreat.

'Troops immediately carried out a hot pursuit and exploitation after the encounter, along the terrorists' route of withdrawal and neutralised three BHTs. The gallant troops also recovered three AK 47 rifles, six magazines and 50 rounds of 7.62mm special,' he said.

Four of them were wasted on the in the vicinity of 151 Battalion.

'The terrorists were burnt beyond recognition, as their gun truck mounted with anti aircraft guns ran over vehicle improvised explosive device. Own troops are currently conducting further exploitation ahead of the location to clear any surviving terrorist,' the brigadier general's statement added.

Wulgo is a border town between Nigeria and Cameroon in the far North of Borno.

YERWA EXPRESS NEWS correspondent who has recently visited the town report that it is fortified and guarded by troops from the two countries.

The terrorists have attempted to overrun the military base on several occasions but ended up each time getting killed or repelled.

The town has been displaced for years, but Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the state governor earlier this year directed the reconstruction of houses and infrastructures in preparation for resettlement of its people.
