Road projects: Gombe govt pays N381m in compensation

Gombe State Government has released N381 million for compensation of 309 properties of people that will be affected by road construction projects in the state.

The properties are in Malam Inna, Kagarawal, Unguwa Uku and Bolari communities, all within the Gombe metropolis.

Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor's spokesman, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, governor of the state has already started the payment.

According to Misilli, the governor said the road construction will commence upon the completion of the payment of the compensations to every individual whose property will be affected.

The governor, therefore announced a period of two weeks for individuals whose property will be affected to evacuate their valuables before the commencement of the road construction

The governor who also frowned at the attitude of some individuals who had wanted to overheat the process for the payment of compensation, commended the effort of the evaluation committee.

He said that the composition of the committee for the evaluation of individual property are individuals with proven integrity.

He noted that the road construction is part of his campaign promises to provide projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.

'We are going to complete the road in Malam Inna, Kagarawal and Unguwa Uku with the compliment of solar powered streetlights.

'We have equally constructed a 120 bed capacity hospital in this area and we have completed the multi billion naira 7.5 kilometres erosion control project which has over the years been a thorn in the flesh of these communities,' the governor said.

'My administration is built on the trust you gave me and I shall continue to protect your interest and your human dignity at all times,' he added.
