Army decorates Ado Isa, 21 other officers in Borno

Nigerian Army has decorated Ado Isa, deputy director, Army Public Relations, as a brigadier general of the Nigerian Army.

He was decorated on Tuesday along with 21 other new senior officers who were promoted to new ranks.

They are 20 brigadier generals, one navy commodore and one lieutenant colonel.

The decoration took place at Maimalari Cantonment, in Maidguri.

They were decorated by Major General Christopher Musa, the theatre commander of Operation Hadin Kai, alongside Maj. Gen. Abdul Khalifa, the force commander, Multinational Joint Task Force and Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno.

While briefing newsmen after the ceremony, the theatre commander, said this is the largest number of promotions of generals in the history of the army.

'It is a clear indication that the service chiefs have confidence in what the troops are doing in the operations. The president, the minister down to the chief of defence staff, appreciate the commitment and the bravery of the troops in the field,’ Maj. Gen. Musa said.

Maj. Gen. Abdul, in his remark, said 'you are hanging this prestigious rank at a very critical time in the history of our country.

'We are facing security challenges, we rely on you, with the responsibility that you have, it will help us resolve this challenges.'

Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno, who was represented by Barr. Kaka Shehu Lawan, commissioner of justice, said the government is highly elated with the promotions.

'The relationship between the armed forces remain cordial, and the newly promoted officers have done extremely well in their various field of endeavors and the government can attest to it.’

Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Navy Commodore Paul Nimyel, appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and the military authorities for finding them worthy of the promotion.

'We will put more efforts to end the over decades-long insurgency,' Commodore Paul said.
