Customs intercept items worth over N300 billions

The Nigerian Customs Service has intercepted items worth over N300 billion in its federal operations.

This was disclosed by DSC Magaji Mailafiya, one of NCS’ spokespersons on Wednesday.

According to him, the unit had intercepted 250 parcels of Indian hemp, 75, 682 suspected tablets of tramadol and also seized 1, 044 bags of foreign parboiled rice.

The unit also said it had succeeded in intercepting 26 motor vehicles, 127 bales of second hand clothing and 635 cartons of foreign pasta.

According to the report, the unit also handed over 650 sacks of AGO (Diesel) to the representatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for further investigations in Jos.

Hamisu Albashir, a comptroller in charge of the unit, commended the successes achieved by his men, adding that Hameed Ali, the comptroller general, was also in praises to them.

Mr. Albashir also thanked the CGC for allocating 18 brand new operational vehicles to the unit.

He further appreciated patriotic members of the public for providing vital information to aid fight against smuggling.
