The Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) has commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the sacrifices and commitment of its personnel to the unity of the country.

The group, in a statement on Tuesday by its Convener, Mr Ifeanyi Aigbedion, said the military under the present leadership had been able to stabilise the country in the past one year.

Aigbedion said the armed forces under the present service chiefs led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, had made remarkable improvement in addressing the security situation they met on ground.

He appealed to Nigerians to continue to support, cooperate and pray for the successes of the military in their quest to keep the nation safe and secure.

According to him, the past one year has been one of good story that will get better with the support of the citizens.

“The leadership of the AFN has shown commitment, unity and determination which has brought results in the various operations across the country.

“Not forgetting that our brothers and sisters in the Northeast had a peaceful Christmas celebration in 2021 due to the dexterity of military personnel in that region.

“In the South-South, economic saboteurs stealing crude oil are not finding it easy; bandits in the North-West are under pressure while criminals in the South-East are being rooted out.

“We must appreciate the sacrifices of our dear military personnel and give them the needed support to restore peace and stability in our country,” Aigbedion said.

Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
