Bandits have placed N24million levy on at least nine communities in Bukkuyum Local Government of Zamfara State.

According to many reports, the terrorists issued letters to community leaders in the nine communities and asked each of them to pay from N500, 000 to N5million or be attacked.

Members of the affected communities told journalists that they have started mobilizing to pay the bandits as demanded.

The nine communities include Galle, Gaude, Gangara, Nannarki, Ruwan Kura, Tungar Gebe, Wawan Icen Ibrahim, Wawan Icen Salihu and Yangalma.

As at the time of filling this report, efforts to reach relevant authorities for comments proved abortive.

This is not the first time that the terrorist are imposing levies on Zamfara communities.

In November last year, they launched an attack at Kwarin Mai Saje, a community in Tsafe Local Government of the state over failure to pay the N3miilion levy imposed on the community.

Six people were abducted, women were raped and valuable things were looted by the terrorist during the attack.

Appeal for support

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
