Usman Alkali-Baba, Nigerian Inspector General of Police has ordered the closure of all satellite units of the Intelligence Response Team and Special Tactical Squad across the country.

Nigerian Police Force announced the order on Tuesday.

It is not clear from the announcement as to why the order had to be given, but YERWA EXPRESS NEWS understands that it may not be unconnected with the recent allegations of one of its former chairmen’s involvement in a drug deal.

The order came shortly after the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA accused DCP Abba Kyari, the suspended deputy commission of police of using the personnel of IRT, which he led before, to engage in illegal business.

YERWA EXPRESS NEWS has reported how Mr. Kyari was reported to have been arrested by the NDLEA over alleged offenses relating to illegal drug pushing.

Mr. Kyari was confirmed to be in the custody of NDLEA for investigation.

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
