Boko Haram continues to cave in, as 41 more surrender

Nigerian military has received 41 surrendered Boko Haram fighters who laid their arms and denounced their membership of the terror group at Dissa, a village outskirts of Borno.

The surrendered terrorists comprising 11 male, 22 female and 8 children voluntarily submitted themselves to troops of 144 battalion stationed at the axis.

A statement by the Nigerian Army Tuesday said the development was occured as the ongoing offensives and clearance operations across the Lake Chad Region in the North East intensifies.

This paper has earlier reported how the Nigerian Army stormed the dreaded Timbuktu Triangle neutralizing undisclosed number of the fleeing terrorists, recovering large cache of weapons and bombs.

'Additionally, (i)n a bid to enhance Civil Military relations as well as deny BHT/ISWAP opportunities to plant IEDs, troops of 28 Task Force Bde in conjuction with CJTF conducted some minor road maintenance including patching of potholes along Damboa-Wajiroko road in Borno State', the statement added.

The terrorists have continued to cave in, progressively since last May, when they lost their gang leader, Abubakar Shekau, to internal rivalries.

It was soon followed by unprecedented defections, with the number hitting well over 20, 000 now.
