All is set for a policy dialogue on reintegration and communal restoration as a means to enhancing sustainable peace and security in Borno.

It is holding at Tapson Hall, Lake Chad Club, behind Borno State Government House in Maiduguri.

The program is organized by Peace Ambassadors Centre for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment in collaboration with British Council, under its project titled Initiatives to Improve Security Service Delivery, Community Policing and State Policy on Peace and Security in Borno State.

The program is meant to engage stakeholders across all sectors of development on sustainable interventions, peace and security.

It is aimed at enhancing community level conflict management capability, ensure accountability and effective service delivery by government, formal and informal security service providers.

The dialogue will focus on facilitating interaction and strengthen informal interface that will contribute to the improvement of relations between government structure, security service providers and members of the public.

It will also discuss cases of improving coordination with formal security sectors and enhance capacity on community relation and respect human right.

This thus seeks to bring together government representatives, legislators, formal and informal security sectors, civil society organizations, traditional and religious leaders to have a common platform that will facilitate policy and practice changes on peace and security.

A communique issued by the center, said the engagement is necessary 'considering the recent surrender of the renounced insurgents estimated to be over 30,000 and in line with the recent reintegration and reconstruction drive of the Borno (S)tate Government.'

Appeal for support

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
