Maiduguri has logged its first rain of the season.

This followed a very humid temperature recorded over the last few days, hitting over 45 degrees on certain days.

The temperature has now lowered to about 35 degrees after the rain.

April is an unusual month to anticipate rainfall in Borno, a reason many have been left surprised but thankful.

'We thank Allah for this rain, because the weather is harsh coupled with fasting, but this rain will bring a relief,' Mohammed Usman said.

Mustapha Idris, a resident of Maiduguri who spoke to our reporter said ‘this is a blessing from Allah, and glory be to Him.

'I never thought we will be going to have a rain this soon, but with Allah’s will and blessing, we are having it now and it is a very heavy one.

'This will bring a relief to this harsh weather we experienced few days back, glory be to God,' he added.

According to many of them, it has been long Maiduguri experienced such an early rain.

Appeal for support

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
