Sen. Ahmad Lawan, Nigerian Senate President has vowed to remain as presidential aspirant of All Progressive Congress until consensus is reached.

Iyke Ekeoma, spokesman to the senate president’s campaign organization disclosed this Monday.

According to Ekeona, the senate president stand is in obedience to the President Muhammadu Buhari earlier call to all aspirants to consider consensus rather than going to the poll.

He said this is because his boss saw President Buhari’s advice as superseding any other decision.

The president's call was ahead of the presidential primary election of the party coming up tomorrow.

'The statement by President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday urging all the party’s presidential aspirants to consult, build consensus and come up with a formidable candidate suffices and supersedes any other decision.

'It is not a question of whether one person is withdrawing from the race or not. It is up to the aspirants to build consensus among them as requested by the president until that happens,’ Ekeona told Parrot Nigeria.

Sen. Lawan is one of the 13 presidential aspirants of the party.

This is coming after Abubakar Bagudu, one of the aspirants, withdrew from the race shortly after the call of the president.
