The Maiduguri Gas Power Plant will start operation November 2022, Mallam Mele Kyari has said.
Kyari is the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
He gave the date in a statement obtained by YERWA EXPRESS NEWS following a site inspection by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Maiduguri chapter in the weekend.
'The technical team met the NNPC civil engineer on site and other teams of the project to see first-hand level of the project. The project managers brief the NSE team of the activities at the site and all the milestones achieve pertaining the project,' the statement said.
They submitted that 'all the necessary gas turbine machineries are all on-site, and the technical team to plug the machines are all in Maiduguri.
'The turbine that would be installed in Maiduguri is the best of the best and it has the newest technology that can be found in the whole of the World.'

'From part of the briefing, the following first-hand information was gotten from the site
All the necessary Gas turbine machineries are all on-site, and the technical team to plug the machines are all in Maiduguri.

The plant would start producing electricity by the end of November 2022 insha Allah.
All the project engineers and managers are on site to deliver the project on time.
The plant is now undergoing civil engineering work.
The plant is a Gas powered plant and it will require about 170MT of Gas for operation daily.
Greenville would supply the needed Gas for the plant for the next 10 years.
The LNG would be supplied to the Maiduguri from Rumuji in Port Harcourt to Maiduguri via tanker trucks.
The LNG Gas would be supplied by 22 trucks daily to the Maiduguri plant. They will cover a distance of 1,700KM journey from Rumuji to Maiduguri.
A total of 57 trucks would be used for the whole operation.
By the time the AKK Gas pipeline comes on stream, the journey would be cut short to Kano and Maiduguri only.
The plant would have a Gas reservation that would sustained the turbines for at least 10 days if the Gas supply chain had a problem.'
