An appeal court sitting in Gombe has upheld the sentencing of M'aji Shettima Arfo, the general manager of Maiduguri Flour Mills for seven years imprisonment.

The general manager was convicted for corruption and misappropriation of funds belonging to the the state government and the Flour Mills.

Shettima was first arraigned in Borno State High Court, sitting in Maiduguri on November 4, where he was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment for engaging in an N86.1 million contract fraud.

While acting as the general manager of the Flour Mill, between 2014 and 2020, he was believed to engaged in multiple fraud in violation of Sections 12 and 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under relevant sections of the same Act.

From 2016 to 2017, Shettima awarded several contracts to his private company, Falkwat Multilinks Limited, to supply maize to Maiduguri Flour Mills Limited.

He was thus sentenced to jail by Justice Haruna Mshellia, of Borno State High Court, 3.

The judgement from all the earlier courts concluded on him being guilty of the charges he was alleged to have committed.

His appeal was therefore also deemed "unworthy".
