Ever since the emergence of the National Leader of All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Lagos State, His Execellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the Presidential Candidate of our great Party, the pundits have floaded the pages of Newspapers with different interpretations.

However, for us as a party, the convention was a huge success and the best candidate has emerged, because only him can be a match for Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP. He has consistently remained active in the political arena of Nigeria and has won elections both as Senator and two terms as Governor of Lagos State.

As young people of our motherland (Nigeria), from the North-East region who have been following keenly the evolution and history and have been privileged to witnessed some of the political activities and happenings in Nigeria, then our region needs to have the next Vice Presidential position.

The Presidential Candidate of our great Party (APC) is currently in deep search of his running mate and with many being filtered around including the likes of the Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha and the former Governor of Borno state, Senator Kashim Shetima from the North East along with others from other regions.

It is an arguably, undeniably discourse that, the region is suffering from power drought and desertaton for the past 62 years and the last time the region tasted or smelled the corridor of powe, was when Atiku served as the Vice President in 1999 to 2007.

The region that has suffered since 2009 from the outlaught of Boko Haram insurgency needs a visionary leadership to support the Governors of the region in the peace building through stakeholders and community enhancements. Find below the reason why out of all the aforementioned candidates for the number two office, only Senator Kashim Shetima stands out.

  1. He is an erudite Educationist, he was a lecturer and a Banker of Repute, respected in the financial circle.

  2. Kashim Shettima has private sector background in a prestigious performance driven organization like Zenith Bank, he grew from Senior Manager to General Manager (performance driven organization) as a result of his contributions, focus, struggles and performance.

  3. He was a Commissioner in various Ministries in the state which comprises of Education, Health, Finance, Agriculture, Local Government and Chiftancy Affairs among others.

  4. He remain a grass-root politician and a mobiliser, who serves as 2-term Governor of Borno State and double as Chairman, Northern Governors Forum (NNGF) and 2 term Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria respectively.

  5. He remain an ardent supporter and Campaign DG of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his quest for the flag-bearer of our great party.

His strength and track record of performance from his academic life to political who gotten enough experience to add value to the Presidency in Governance. So, equity, justice and fairness demands that Senator Kashim Shettima should be the running mate of His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming Presidential election.

It is on the above mentioned reasons that as a bonified son of the North East region and ardent as well as unshakable member of our great party, the APC, I alongside many youths in the region, finger and pinpoint Senator Kashim Shetima, who’s success in Government and as a seasoned banker deserves to be the Vice President of Nigeria to facilitate the Tinubu’s vision of transforming Nigeria to a world class economy.

We shall be engaging our young people through the media. Both main stream and the Social media to disregard all sort of name swinging and name calling of Muslim Muslim ticket or otherwise. As young people, religion and tribes are not the necessities or ingredients to which a leader is voted into office. Let us place emphasis to credibility, capacity, competency and delivery to which Senator Kashim Shetima is defined with.
