Mohammed Ali Jajari, the gubernatorial candidate of People's Democratic Party in Borno has described as useless the building of new schools by the All Progressive Congress led government in the state, without teachers to teach.

The Boko Haram insurgents, whose ideology is against western education, destroyed a number of schools in the North East region of Nigeria.

However, following the relative peace achieved in the region, some states, particularly Borno embarked on renovating and building of schools.

It was part of efforts both rebuild the communities and further discourage the insurgents’ anti-school ideology among people.

Mr. Jajari criticized the government for not putting the schools into use while speaking to journalists in the state capital.

He implied that the government policies are not helping the state as children who should be in school have continued to roam the streets.

'They will just award contract to their relatives and friends to build such structures which at the end of the day no one will occupy it.

'You will see many schools were built in the state for the past years but no teachers and students occupying it despite the number of children roaming on streets without going to school,' Mr. Jajari said.

Instead, the gubernatorial candidate called on the people of the state to vote for him in the upcoming 2023 elections so that he addresses the problems.

'Vote for PDP in the coming elections so that we will bring positive change both within the state and the national level,' he called.

According to him, if he is elected, he will bring lasting peace to the state, as well as create employment opportunities by building more industries and enterprises, as well as basic healthcare centers.

Other plans he has for the state, he said, are addressing issues in the education sector and minimum wage of workers, among others.
