Kwankwaso clears the air regarding stepping down for Atiku in the presidential election.

Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, said he is not stepping down for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of People's Democratic Party, PDP.

Sen. Kwankwaso said this while debunking rumors across social media that said he is stepping down for Mr. Atiku.

He made the clarification while speaking to Nigeria Guilds of Editors, NGE, in a program in Lagos.

Sen. Kwankwaso, who was also an ex-PDP member explained that he would not have left PDP if he would step down for Atiku only a few months to the presidential election.

‘Some people are saying that I am stepping down for Atiku, why then did I leave the party? These are the issues, you see the problem with that party was that there are so many people who believed that they are highly privileged.

'In a democracy, people are free to follow any political party, you cannot sit there and start dictating that I like this one, or you do not like the other one,' Kwankwaso said.

He noted that his ideology and experience is different from Mr. Atiku’s, adding that if people want to verify his case, they can trace his history as a governor in Kano.
