A post-insurgency development program of the World Bank, Multi Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project, MCRP, implemented in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, is holding a five-day capacity building for stakeholders across the 27 local governments of Borno on project monitoring and evaluation.

The training commenced on Monday at Armani Event Center in Maiduguri, capital of the state, with support from the Borno State Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement.

MCRP is aimed at improving access to basic services and livelihood opportunities for the crisis-affected communities in the three northeastern states, as well as the wider Lake Chad Region.

According to Abdullahi Bukar, who represented Babazanna Abdulkarim, the state coordinator of the project, the training will last up till Friday.

'Specifically, the training will also equip participants with basic guidelines, tools and techniques for continuous and effective monitoring and evaluation of executed or ongoing project in their respective LGAs to promote local project ownership for sustainability in Borno State,' Bukar said.

Sulaiman Dauda, a private project consultant, who is one of the facilitators, told YERWA EXPRESS NEWS at the event that the participants will be trained on proper ways of reporting ongoing projects to appropriate authorities, from observation and regular monitoring.

'The governor has established a monitoring and evaluation desk in his office to which everyone can report to regarding any project executed by both state government and development partners,' Sulaiman said.

Two hundred and seventy participants, drawn from the 27 local governments of the state and MDAs, are receiving the training.
