BREAKING: Gov. Zulum trounces PDP to secure second term as Borno governor

Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno, and also the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Congress has won the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election.

The incumbent governor was declared winner of the Saturday poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Monday.

According to the INEC, Prof. Zulum scored the highest vote to defeat his closest rival, Mohammed Ali Jajari of People's Democratic Party, to emerge winner of the election.

He polled 545,542 votes, while Jajari polled 82,147votes.

He is expected to be issued his certificate of return by INEC in the coming days in line with the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Prof. Zulum will be sworn as the governor of the state for second term by May 29.
