Gov. Kefas signs law limiting LGA councils tenure

Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba has signed Local Government Amendment Bill into law.

The new law limits the tenure of elected chairman in the state from four years to two years.

The governor signed the bill into law today according to statement by Taraba Fact, a Facebook page that is committed to sharing happenings in the state.

'UPDATE: The 'Local Government Amendment Bill' was signed into law by Governor Dr. AgbuKefas, ' the statement read.

'This new law limits the tenure of all elected local government chairmen in Taraba State to the period of 2 year - term,' the statement added.

The development was shortly after Nelson Len, chairman of the state house assembly committee on information confirmed to journalist in Jalingo that the bill had also been ratified by the assembly.
