The Borno State Police Command has re-arrested Abubakar Mohammed, a 27-year-old convict who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Center amidst the recent flood disaster.
A vigilant resident of Gubio Local Government Area alerted authorities after spotting Abubakar in Gubio town.
In a press statement by Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, spokesperson of the commissioner of police said, a swift response by a police patrol team, the escaped convict was apprehended.
Abubakar was serving time for culpable homicide before exploiting the flood-damaged fence to break free. His recapture demonstrates the police's unwavering commitment to public safety.
'The command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served,' said SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, Police Public Relations Officer.
Abubakar will be returned to the Nigerian Correctional Service. The police continue to search for any additional escaped convicts.
'This successful re-arrest serves as a warning to would-be fugitives: the law will pursue and apprehend you.'
