I sincerely appreciate your observation that Baba Malam Wali has not yet declared his intention to contest for the gubernatorial seat in Yobe State for 2027. This is because he remains a loyal and dedicated member of the current administration, always demonstrating obedience and respect towards His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni. He is likely to accept whatever decision the APC Elders Forum makes regarding his political future in 2027. However, I must clarify that there are four incorrect assertions on Baba Malam Wali in your write-up that I disagree with. This note is not meant as a rejoinder but rather an attempt to set the record straight.

Firstly, your injudicious and absent-minded claim that Baba Mallam Wali is inexperienced and relies on Governor Buni’s support for the party’s governorship ticket. You must be educated that Baba Mallam Wali has significant experience in public service, having served in various capacities, including as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). His reappointment indicates the governor’s confidence in his competence and ability to deliver on governance. Suggesting that he lacks experience undermines his years of service and contributions to Yobe State.

Secondly, your thoughtless and illogical claim that Wali is stingy, which alienates some people. This is a subjective claim and lacks a factual basis. Financial prudence should not be equated with stinginess. If Wali manages resources judiciously, it speaks more to his ability to ensure fiscal responsibility. This trait can be seen as a strength, especially in a political environment where mismanagement of public funds is often a concern. Thus, labeling him "stingy" could be a misinterpretation of his commitment to accountability and transparency.

Thirdly, your baseless claim that People of Yobe are fed up with Wali, as seen in the reaction to his reappointment as SSG. You must be aware that the reappointment of Baba Mallam Wali was a strategic decision based on his proven track record. The dissatisfaction expressed by some politicians does not reflect the general sentiment of the people of Yobe. Political decisions often generate diverse reactions, and isolated discontent from a few stakeholders should not be misconstrued as widespread rejection. Wali’s continuous service as SSG indicates that he enjoys considerable support within the political structure of Yobe and from Governor Buni.

Fourthly, your stupid claim that Handing over the governorship ticket to Wali would be a disaster in waiting. This assertion is speculative. Predicting electoral outcomes based on internal party dynamics is premature. Wali’s potential candidacy should be evaluated based on his performance, vision for Yobe State, and ability to connect with the electorate. Any concerns about his candidacy should be addressed through constructive political engagement rather than vague and unfounded predictions.

Ultimately, each of these claims can be countered by focusing on Baba Mallam Wali’s professional achievements, his reputation for integrity, and his strategic political relationships. His reappointment as SSG reflects trust in his capabilities, and the strength of his candidacy should be judged on his vision and policies for Yobe State rather than unsubstantiated allegations.
