Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno, has signed the 2025 budget into law, tagged as the 'Budget of Recovery and Continuity'.
The exercise took place on Monday at the Government House Maiduguri, Council Chamber.
Recall that on Monday, 9th December 2024, Zulum presented the 2025 appropriation budget before the floor of the Borno State House of Assembly.
After the presentation, the house immediately moved into action, giving it a second reading and referring it to the house committee on appropriation for further necessary action.
During the interactive session with the heads of MDs and the committee on budget and appropriation, it was noted that there was a need to increase the funds to some ministries to enable them to carry out projects.
An additional N31 billion was added to the initial N580 billion, amounting to N615 billion, which was passed into law on December 24, 2024.
Abdulkarim Lawan, the speaker, commended Zulum for the support he has been giving to the house in carrying out their legislative duties.
Governor Zulum also described their relationship as a symbiotic one.
He also commended the Ministry of Budget and Planning for a job well done and all the members of the state executive council for their contributions to the administration's efforts in 2024.
This year is crucial, Zulum said, as he aims to complete all the outstanding promises he made during his 2023 campaign.
Zulum assured that with the collaboration of the Ministry of Budget and Planning, the state will ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the 2025 appropriation bill.
He also urged the state executive to avoid unnecessary requests, which have caused significant delays in the past.
In another development, Zulum announced the appointment of Engr. Mustapha Babagana Mallumbe as the deputy chief of staff to the office of the governor.

But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
