The Kaduna State Government said on Thursday that bandits did not block Kaduna-Abuja road.
The government said this while debunking rumors, spread across social media, that the road was blocked by the bandits over the past few days.
Samuel Aruwan, commissioner of internal security, home affairs and culture who disclosed this in a statement said the clarification is necessary because the rumor in circulation has been 'raising alarm.'
'Kaduna State Government wishes to firmly debunk this message, and advises citizens to completely disregard the mischievous circulation.
'The Kaduna State Government is in constant touch with security agencies in the general area, and constantly following the security situation on the Kaduna-Abuja Road and other locations under watch,' he said.
He explained that the government is not living in denial of security challenges confronting the state but it is quite unfortunate how some individuals and groups continue to undermine the sacrifices of security agencies and the government.
He confirmed that, contrary to the message in circulation, bandits did not block the road.
Kaduna-Abuja Road has come under several attacks by the bandits. A number of Nigerians have been killed or abducted during such attacks.
However, for the past few weeks normalcy has returned to the road as more effort has been put by security operatives patrolling the area.
Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
