Lagos, March 15, 2023 (NAN) Google says it has introduced generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) model that will help users with smart compose, replies and summaries in the workspace.
Johanna Voolich Wright, Vice President, Product, Google Workspace, said in a statement on Wednesday that AI had been transformational in building products that had earned a valued place in people’s lives.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Generative AI is an artificial intelligence model that can generate text, images, audio, and video by predicting the next word or pixel.
Wright said that across Google’s productivity suite, advances in AI had already helped three billion users save more time
She said that the products had helped save more time with Smart Compose and Smart Reply, generate summaries for Docs, look more professional in meetings, and stay safe against malware and phishing attacks.
According to her, Google is now making it possible for workspace users to harness the power of generative AI to create, connect, and collaborate like never before.
‘’To start, we’re introducing a first set of AI-powered writing features in Docs and Gmail to trusted testers.
‘’As the world’s most popular and secure cloud-native communication and collaboration suite, getting this right and at scale is something we take very seriously.
‘’We know from our deep experience in AI and productivity that building features with AI requires great care, thoughtful experimentation, and many iterations driven by user feedback,’’ she said.
According to her, Google does all this while building safeguards against abuse, protecting the privacy of user data, and respecting customer controls for data governance.
She said that workspace’s mission was to meaningfully connect people so they could create, build and grow together and advances in generative AI.
Wright said that Google was sharing its broader vision of how workspace was evolving to incorporate AI as a collaborative partner that was always there to help, achieve goals, across Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Meet, and Chat.
