A delegation of youth peace advocates has paid a courtesy visit to the Borno State Government in an effort to strengthen their partnership for peacebuilding in the state.

The advocates, a group of 100 young individuals, were recently trained in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, mental health, and climate change mitigation by the Peace Ambassadors Centre for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment (PACHE) in partnership with the British Council and the state government. enter image description here Led by Ambassador Ahmed Shehu, President and Founder of PACHE, the advocates were received by Professor Usman Tar, the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, on Wednesday.

Having already been actively providing humanitarian support to communities and complementing government efforts, the advocates shared their community activities, successes, and challenges with the commissioner during the meeting. enter image description here They highlighted their participation in the Borno State Climate Action Plan, including tree-planting initiatives, and their engagement with low-risk repentant insurgents.

In response, the commissioner expressed gratitude and appreciation for PACHE’s commitment to youth empowerment and community service. He endorsed a partnership for a youth-focused media engagement program at Dandal Kura Radio Maiduguri and requested a detailed report of the advocates’ activities to be presented to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.enter image description here

The commissioner commended the youth for their significant strides and urged them to submit their needs for further support and assistance from the government. He also encouraged them to identify areas of intervention within relevant ministries for facilitation.

Appeal for support

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
