Boko Haram terrorists have killed one Nigerian Army personnel in a deadly attack on Mai Borti in Molai axis, a community few kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital of Borno.

A source from the community who preferred not to be named told our reporter that the attack happened on Thursday around 1:00 AM.

He said, the terrorists who sneaked into the town trekking, attacked a military formation close to Molai Hospital.

The attack led to the killing of a soldier. They also carted away with a telescope.

'We heard shooting sporadically in the night, and people stated fleeing the town for safety.

'The Nigerian Army confronted them but the terrorists came in large number with sophisticated weapons and killed one soldier and took away something like a telescope,' the source said.

According to him the terrorists also launched a bomb attack on Dalwa, which is about ten kilometres from the town, just last week.

The attack left one person killed and 10 injured.

'Last five days, they planted a bomb within Dalwa axis. It killed one small boy and injured about ten people. They used to come during Christmas season to disrupt our community. So we are calling to the government to take immediate measures on this matter otherwise they may come back,' he said.

Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
