Hunter fighting Boko Haram injured in IED blast in Borno

A renowned hunter, Ali Gwoza, known for his bravery in combating terrorism in the North East, has been injured in an explosion.

The incident occurred in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, where Ali Gwoza was attempting to diffuse a bomb planted by Boko Haram terrorists along the main road.

According to a close source familiar with the incident, Mr. Gwoza suffered injuries to his hand and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

In a related development, Boko Haram terrorists launched a separate attack on a military base in Sabon Gari, another part of the LGA, on Saturday.

A local hunter, who preferred anonymity, reported that the terrorists invaded the town, resulting in casualties among the military personnel.

'The terrorists engaged our men in a fierce gun battle for hours before fleeing to a nearby mango plantation within the Mandara Mountains,' the hunter said.

Amature video footages that was obtained by our reporter showed lifeless bodies of soldiers and destruction of properties worth millions of Naira.

At the time of filing this report on Thursday morning, the military authorities are yet to issue a statement on the matter.
