Yobe govt finalizes plans to start groundbreaking research on causes of kidney disease

Yobe State has been recording cases of kidney diseases over the recent years.

Mahmoud Bukar maina, special adviser on science, research, and innovation, is leading the research initiative to address the issue.

Maina will collect samples from 2,000 individuals in Bade and Damaturu LGAs as part of the research effort.

He said the research aims to identify the root causes of kidney disease in Yobe State and find solutions to the problem.

Buni initiated an agreement with the United Kingdom that will facilitate the research project.

Dr. Baba Waru Goni, Chief Medical Director of Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, expressed gratitude to Buni for supporting the research initiative.

‘We are grateful to His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, for prioritizing healthcare in Yobe State, this research initiative is a testament to his commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our people,’ he said.
