Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked the 3 Battalion, a military formation in Rann, headquarters of Kalabalge Local Government Area in Borno State.

This fresh attack occurred at 12:00 a.m. Tuesday, killing five and injuring six soldiers, inciting fears in nearby residents, according to local sources.

A resident who spoke anonymously said the terrorists overran the military outpost with heavy-duty machinery, causing the troops to retreat.

'Five soldiers were confirmed dead while six soldiers were injured; they also snatched three guntrucks before leaving the base,' he said.

The terrorists were also at Gajiram, the headquarters of Nganzai Local Government Area.

After over an hour of gunfight, troops forced the terrorists to retreat.

The concurrent assault occurred less than 14 hours after suspected ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters targeted a military base in Marte and Dikwa Local Government Areas of Borno on Monday.

In the Marte attack, terrorists raided a Forward Operation Base of the 153 Battalion, killing soldiers and seizing gun trucks, motorbikes, and weapons from the armoury.

Casualty figures have not been officially confirmed, but sources said seven soldiers lost their lives.

Authorities have not released statements on either incident.
