The troops of Operation Hadin Kai have overpowered and chased members of Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, who tried to infiltrate Damasak.
Damasak is the headquarters of Mobbar, a local government area of Borno.
The attack, according to our sources, occurred this night, at about 8:45 pm.
'Alhamdulilah, they were pursued by the Nigerian military with superior fire,' a security source confirmed.
The terrorists have made a few attempts to overrun military posts in the town without any success in recent times.
'See, we have been expecting it, so they can no longer take us off guard because we are ready and expecting them in all our locations.
'Just as it happened in New Marte, I assure you, we will fry them in any of their attack,' a top military general told YERWA EXPRESS NEWS.
In his recent interview, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno, reiterated the assurances he received from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support the Nigerian military with equipment to battle the recent upsurge of terrorists attacks in the North East.
