In a coordinated joint military operations in Borno State, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai, comprising land, maritime, and air components, have eliminated undisclosed number of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno.

According to the Nigerian Army, the fight lasted for over two hours in a fish dam area of Lake Chad and denied the terrorists infiltration to government facilities in Kukawa Local Government Area of the state.

Sources from the community told our reporter that the terrorists targeted a newly acquired Swamp Buggies deployed by the Borno State Government for the critical waterways clearance project.

A militry reinforcement from Baga aiding the Naval Base Lake Chad personnel engaged the terrorists killing many of the terrorists and denied access to the swamp buggies.

Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials were also recovered from the scene, according to the Nigerian military.

'While minimal incursion led to the destruction of an ambulance and two other vehicles, and some personnel sustained injuries, the prompt and robust response prevented a more significant disaster.

'Air component platforms are currently conducting follow-on pursuit exploitation along the waterways to further decimate the retreating terrorists.'

However, this attempted distrustion comes as Hon. Karta Maina Ma’aji Lawan, on behalf of the people of Kukawa Local Government Area, expressed their appreciation to Governor Zulum for deploying the five swamp buggies and floaters for the waterways clearance.

According to Karta, each of the swamp buggies is valued at over N1 billion, for the 60 km clearance of waterways between Baga and Baga Sulla in the Republic of Chad.

He said the governor also provided 15,000 liters of diesel to support the operation.

Hon. Karta also highlighted the importance of this project in reviving trade, mobility, and economic integration in the region, along with the provision of two desert rugged vehicles and two Tacoma Hiluxes to support CJTF operations.

In a statement by Kellu Yarayi, councilor, representing Yoyo Ward, Kukawa, Hon. Karta lauded Governor Zulum's 'bold, present, and compassionate' leadership to the people of Borno State.

She emphasised his frontline approach and direct engagement with the people and commended the ongoing efforts of resettling communities in Kukawa LGA, which is a key part of Governor Zulum's agenda.
