Boko Haram terrorists have, on Thursday night, invaded Monguno town of Borno, where they killed two immigration officers.

According to a source in the LGA, the terrorists invaded the town at about 1:00 a.m., shooting sporadically and nonstop.

'After infiltrating the town, they moved to the immigration office located between the government lodge and the LGA secretariat, where they killed two immigration officers. They also set the office on fire,' our source said.

This is coming less than a week after the killing of seven persons by the terrorists in Gwoza, another local government area in the state.

However, the Defence Headquarters has reported killing several of these terrorists within the month of August. It said its men have also arrested 85 suspects and rescued 66 kidnap victims across the country within the period.

It added that in the North East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai had eliminated scores of Boko Haram/ ISWAP fighters, arrested 15 suspects (including 13 collaborators, a gunrunner and a drug peddler) and rescued 8 kidnapped victims.

Appeal for support

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
