Government of Borno State, in partnership with the Progressive Governors’ Forum, PGF, has hosted the quarterly strategic summit of commissioners of information from All Progressives Congress, APC, governed states.

The event took place at the Maiduguri Government House Multipurpose Hall in Maiduguri.

The summit, themed ‘FGN–PGF Synergy: One Message, One Future,’ focused on strengthening communication, national orientation, and promoting the APC-led administration’s development agenda.

Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by Usman Mamman Kadafur, deputy governor of Borno State, stressed the importance of collective effort in achieving progress and development.

Zulum highlighted Borno’s resilience in recovering from insurgency, citing progress in rebuilding communities, reconstructing schools and hospitals, and revitalizing agriculture.

He said the state’s 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic transformation initiative serve as a roadmap for lasting security, inclusive growth, and sustainable prosperity.

Zulum urged the commissioners to develop a unified communication strategy, stressing transparency, timeliness, and accountability as key to advancing governance.

He said credibility remains the most valuable asset for communicators and called for collaboration to project positive narratives about APC-led states.

The governor also called on federal agencies, development partners, NGOs, and the private sector to deepen collaboration with the state government to achieve its development goals.

He thanked the APC leadership for convening the summit and praised the commissioners for their dedication.

Folorunsi S. Aluka, director general of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, commended Zulum’s leadership, describing it as transformative for Borno State.

Aluka said Zulum’s administration has recorded major gains in education, health, infrastructure, social welfare, and economic development.

He cited the allocation of N4.8 billion for scholarships, sponsorship of over 25,000 students for WASSCE, and N1.2 billion in funding for students studying in China.

He also highlighted the establishment of new health facilities, including a Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care center, and the provision of free kidney dialysis to over 140 patients weekly.

Aluka mentioned road projects such as the 113-kilometer Maiduguri ring road and other urban infrastructure works across the state.

He noted the government’s support for farmers through fertilizer distribution, rehabilitation of the South Chad Irrigation Scheme, and collaboration with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority.

He praised Zulum’s proactive security approach, which includes empowering local security forces, promoting peace dialogues, and providing humanitarian aid to thousands of households.

Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, described Borno as Nigeria’s most resilient state.

Idris said the people of Borno have shown remarkable courage in overcoming the impact of insurgency, displacement, and destruction.

He commended their determination and resilience, saying they represent the true strength and spirit of Nigeria.
