Boko Haram terrorists have launched a fresh ambush on troops of the 21 Brigade Operation Hadin Kai in Borno.
The attack resulted in the killing of the commanding officer and six other soldiers.
An intelligence source who spoke to this reporter said the attack happened Friday evening along Kashimri village in the Bama Local Government Area.
According to the source, the ambush also claimed the lives of two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and two Vigilante members.
'Our troops were ambushed by the Boko Haram terrorists while they were heading for a clearance operation in Bama.
'A Commanding Officer who led troops to the clearance operation was killed alongside six soldiers, two CJTF and two hunters,' he said.
He noted that the terrorists also lost many of their fighters during the encounter.
