The Bauchi State Government has closed all schools across the state, declaring that every student deserves to learn in an environment that is 'safe, stable, and free of fear.'

The immediate closure, announced Monday, affects all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including federal and private schools.

The decision was communicated by the State Ministry of Education following extensive security consultations.

The move comes amid heightened security concerns across northern Nigeria.

The announcement follows the killing of five police officers by bandits in Darazo Local Government Area on Sunday and a series of recent school abductions in neighboring states.

In its statement, the government acknowledged the disruption the closure would cause but emphasized that the protection of children is its 'highest moral responsibility.'

Officials said they are working with security agencies to resolve the threats and will reopen schools as soon as it is safe.

Parents and school administrators are urged to remain calm but vigilant, with the government advising citizens to report any suspicious activity to security forces.

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
