Brigadier-General (Rtd) Abu Ali, former Military Administrator of Bauchi State, has passed away.

Governor Bala Mohammed announced the death in a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, special adviser on media and publicity on Monday.

The governor expressed "profound sadness" at the passing of the former leader, who served as Military Administrator from September 1990 to January 1992.

General Abu Ali's administration oversaw several key projects, including the commissioning of the Bauchi Township Water Project.

He also helped consolidate the Tomato Processing Company and founded the Wikki Tourists Football Club.

The former administrator demonstrated decisive leadership during the 1991 ethno-religious crisis in Tafawa Balewa.

He imposed curfews and deployed security forces to restore order.

Governor Mohammed noted General Abu Ali's peaceful transfer of power to a democratic government in 1992 as evidence of his commitment to democratic principles.

After his military service, General Abu Ali served as the Etsu Bassa Nge, a first-class traditional ruler in Kogi State since 2000.

He was widely respected for his humility, integrity, and dedication to public service.

Governor Mohammed extended condolences to the general's family and the Bassa Nge Kingdom, requesting prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.

The governor described General Abu Ali's legacy as that of 'a servant-leader, a visionary, and a man of courage and compassion.'
