Troops of the Nigerian military, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force CJTF, have repelled a Boko Haram attack involving an armed drone in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to a security source, the terrorists attacked the town on Wednesday and deployed an armed drone. They also advanced with ground fire, leaving eight CJTF members injured.

He said the troops quickly took defensive positions and returned fire, killing 18 terrorists and denying them entry into the town.

'Troops repelled them successfully. The formation in Mallam Fatori is well equipped with AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, and other required assets,' he said.

He added that the military formation in the area has been strengthened with additional personnel and equipment to counter any attack.

'At each checkpoint, we have adequate manpower and full equipment,' he added.

He confirmed that one member of the CJTF was killed in the encounter, while eight were injured and currently receiving treatment in a state hospital.
