Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai have chased a Boko Haram terrorists who attempted to infiltrate Pulka Town in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Pulka Town is about 109km from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Local sources said the terrorists attacked the town at about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Earlier, at about 7:58 p.m., another group of terrorists from the Mandara Mountains dislodged an army formation at Maraban Ngoshe along the Kirawa road.
Security sources said all troops have returned to their locations.
They also confirmed that no soldier was lost in the incident.
On Thursday, terrorists killed eight hunters in Warabe, also in Gwoza Town, after a gunfire exchange.
A member of the volunteer force said they mobilized reinforcements from Pulka to rescue the hunters.
He said their movement was stopped by another group of terrorists hiding along the road.
He explained the terrorists were armed with light machine guns while the volunteers only had pump-action rifles.
He said they saw the terrorists chasing and killing their people on motorcycles but could not intervene.
He added the only thing that saved them was news that reinforcements were on the way from the Brigade in Gwoza.
Ground troops remain alert within the theater.
There is concern that several weapons, including Super Tucano aircraft and other Air Force assets, were moved out of the Northeast.
Security analysts also raised concerns about the shortage of military equipment needed to confront the ongoing terrorist threat.
Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
