United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has restated its strong support for small and medium-scale enterprises as it sponsors the Lagos International Trade Fair for the seventh consecutive year.
The fair, organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), opened on Friday, November 7, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.
It will run until November 17, 2025, attracting exhibitors, investors, and participants from Nigeria and other countries.
UBA has also established a full-service branch within the trade fair complex to serve customers and provide them with a rewarding experience.
Customers conducting transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, or transfers at the branch will automatically qualify for a special ‘Lucky Dip’ draw with various prizes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, UBA’s head of SME banking, Babatunde Ajayi, highlighted the bank’s strategic collaboration with the LCCI.
‘Our continued support for the Lagos International Trade Fair and our initiatives under AfCFTA are connected,’ Ajayi said.
‘They reflect our mission to empower African businesses and promote cross-border trade through a strong financial network.’
UBA’s group head, marketing and corporate communications, Alero Ladipo, said the bank’s participation aligns with its long-term vision for Africa’s economic transformation.
‘The LITF is one of the strategic platforms through which UBA translates its economic vision into tangible action,’ Ladipo stated.
‘Our roadmap toward a $4 trillion African economy is built through practical engagements like this that focus on SME growth and impact.’
She added that the bank’s deep partnerships, technology-driven innovations, and trade solutions will foster sustainable development and inclusive growth across the continent.
UBA is among the largest financial institutions in Africa, with more than 25,000 employees and over 45 million customers globally.
The bank operates in 20 African countries, as well as the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates, offering retail, commercial, and institutional banking services.
Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
