Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum met with his Yobe and Adamawa counterparts, Mai Mala Buni and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration with the World Bank.
The meeting took place on Monday with officials of the World Bank office in Nigeria.
It focused on improving the impact of World Bank-supported projects across the three states.
According to a statement by Mamman Mohammed, director general, press and media affairs to the governor of Yobe, the discussion covered key programs such as AGILE, Nigeria for Women Project, L-PRES, ACReSAL, and SOLID.
These programs aim to enhance education, agriculture, livestock, and economic empowerment.
World Bank Country Director in Nigeria, Mathew Verghis, commended the governors for their commitment to project implementation.
He assured that the Bank would continue to partner with the states to achieve better results.
Governor Zulum appreciated the World Bank’s support for ongoing recovery and resilience projects in Borno.
He called for faster responses and simpler implementation processes to make programs more effective.
'Our people face unique challenges,' Zulum said.
'Flexibility in program design and implementation will make interventions more impactful.'
The governors and World Bank representatives agreed to work together to address administrative delays affecting project delivery.
Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
