The Borno State Police Command has appointed CSP Zanna Mahdi as the new officer commanding Crack Squad, a key operational unit tasked with crime control and rapid response across the state.

The appointment was announced by the Directorate of Information of the Ministry of Information and Internal Security, Borno State on Wednesday.

CSP Mahdi was born in Gashua, Yobe State.

He is a law graduate of the University of Maiduguri and holds a master’s degree in Law.

He was enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force in 2012 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was first posted to the GRA Division in Maiduguri.

The officer later served as the divisional police officer of Nganzai Division, where he spent about 10 years handling security operations and community policing.

Until his latest appointment, CSP Mahdi was the DPO of Malamfatori in Abadam local government area of Borno State.

Security sources said his experience in frontline and border communities informed the decision to assign him to the Crack Squad.

The appointment is expected to strengthen the police command’s efforts in tackling crime and improving public safety across Borno State.

Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means.
