63 vulnerable pupils of Aisha Buhari Integrated Primary School in Maiduguri have received school uniforms from Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele, the vice chancellor of University of Maiduguri.
The uniforms were distributed on Friday during a ceremony held at the school located in the New GRA area of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Prof. Mele said the intervention was designed to support vulnerable learners and encourage them to remain committed to their education.
He urged the pupils to look beyond their current challenges and stay focused on their studies.
A total of 63 pupils benefited from the support, including 38 girls and 25 boys.
The vice chancellor noted that education remains a key pathway for children to achieve their goals and improve their future.
Babagana Bako, deputy vice chancellor (central administration) of the university, advised the pupils to use the opportunity to concentrate on their academic work.
He said the gesture should motivate them to take their education more seriously.
Hajiya Abu Musa, headmistress of the primary school, thanked the vice chancellor for what she described as a timely intervention.
She said the support would encourage the pupils and improve their confidence in the learning environment.
Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
