Al Udeid Air Base, the largest United States military installation in the Middle East, was struck late Tuesday by an Iranian ballistic missile.

According to Qatar’s Ministry of Defence, two missiles were launched from Iran toward Qatari territory.

One missile was intercepted by air defence systems, while the second hit the base southwest of Doha.

Authorities confirmed there were no casualties and no significant damage reported.

Al Udeid hosts about 10,000 U.S. service members and serves as the forward headquarters of United States Central Command, overseeing regional air operations and coordination.

The strike marks another phase in Iran’s response to Operation Epic Fury, the joint U.S.–Israeli campaign launched on February 28 targeting Iranian nuclear and missile facilities and senior leadership figures.

Qatar’s defence ministry described the attack as a violation of its sovereignty but said its armed forces remain prepared to safeguard national security.

Residents in Doha reported hearing explosions before the official confirmation.

The incident follows a series of Iranian missile and drone operations targeting Gulf states hosting U.S. forces, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Qatari authorities said dozens of missiles and drones have been intercepted in recent days.

U.S. officials previously stated that air defence systems, including Patriot missile batteries, have neutralized most incoming threats.

However, reports indicated that despite multiple interceptors being launched, one missile managed to strike the base.

The development comes days after six U.S. Army Reserve soldiers were killed in a separate Iranian strike on a facility in Kuwait on March 1, marking the first confirmed U.S. fatalities in the ongoing conflict.

Qatar, which maintains diplomatic relations with both Washington and Tehran, condemned the attack while reinforcing its defensive posture.
