Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno, has visited displaced residents of Ngoshe following a recent attack by Boko Haram insurgents.
The victims are currently taking refuge in Pulka town in Gwoza Local Government Area of the state.
Prof. Zulum met with the displaced residents during the visit and expressed sympathy over the attack on their community.
He described the situation as tragic but said it should be accepted as the will of Allah.
The governor said the visit was aimed at condoling with residents of Ngoshe over the attack carried out by insurgents.
He said several people were killed during the incident while others were abducted.
'Nigerian Army has begun operations in the area to clear landmines and restore security,' he said.
He noted that the operation is expected to allow residents to safely return to their homes.
The governor said the state government has already provided relief materials to the displaced victims in Pulka.
He added that cooking points would be established to provide food for the affected residents.
The governor also called on the Nigerian Army to deploy more personnel, equipment, and technology to strengthen security operations in the state.
He said insurgents often move from the Mandara Mountains to launch attacks on nearby communities.
He noted that clearing the area would help improve security and reduce further attacks in the region.
Conflict Reporting is dangerous and risky. Our reporters constantly face life-threatening challenges, sometimes surviving ambushes, kidnap attempts and attacks by the whiskers as they travel and go into communities to get authentic and firsthand information. But we dare it every day, nonetheless, in order to keep you informed of the true situation of the victims, the trends in the conflicts and ultimately help in peace building processes. But these come at huge cost to us. We are therefore appealing to you to help our cause by donating to us through any of the following means. You can also donate working tools, which are even more primary to our work. We thank you sincerely as you help our cause.
